"A wife who loses a husband is called a widow. A husband who loses a wife is called a widower. A child who loses his parents is called an orphan. But...there is no word for a parent who loses a child, that's how awful the loss is!" - Neugeboren 1976, 154

| | | My beautiful Angel My name is Jaleel Keshaun Kitchings. I was born May 18,2006 @ 8:08am weighing 5 pounds 15.8 ounces and 19 inches long. I was three weeks and five days old when I passed on on Tuesday morning June 13,2006. I was so loved my my mommy and daddy and my family and so many other people. Just Those Few Weeks
By:Susan Erlin
For those few weeks we had you to ourselves,
And that seems too short of time,
To be changed so profoundly,
In those few weeks we came to know you...
And to love you,
You came to trust us with your life,
Oh, what a life I had planned for you!
Just those few weeks when we lost you,
I lost a lifetime of hopes, plans, dreams, and aspirations...
A slice of my future simply vanished overnight,
Just those few weeks,
It wasn't enough time to convince others,
How special and important you were,
How odd, a truly unique son has left us,
oh so soon,
You were just those few weeks our little one,
You darted in and out of our life too quickly,
But it seems that's all the time you needed,
To make our life so much richer-
And give us a small glimpse of eternity.
*We changed a few things in the poem to fit Jaleel.* | | | My angel sleeping peacefully I loved listening to Mommy's voice or when she'd sing to me. She use to sing this song called"What Do I Do" by David Grover here are the lyrics:
"What do I do when my sister is crying what do I do I just don't know what to say?
You take your sister in your arms and you love her, you take your sister in your arms and you hug her,
What do I do when my brother is crying? what do I do I just don't know what to say? you take your brother in your arms & you love him, you take your brother in your arms and you hug him.
What do I do when my daddy is crying? what do I do I just don't know what to say? you take your daddy in your arms and u love him u take your daddy in your arms and u hug him,
what do I do if my mommy is crying what do I do I just don't know what to say you take your mommy in your arms & u love her, u take ur mommy in your arms & u hug her
What do I do if I am crying? what do I do I just don't know what to say? You look deep inside your heart love will find you & if you climb into my arms I will hold you & if you climb into my arms I will Love You"
That was the song Mommy sang just for me! | | | Mommy & Jaleel What Makes A Mother?
I thought of you and closed my eyes and prayed to God today,
I asked "What makes a Mother?" and I know I heard Him say,
"A Mother has a baby" This we know is true,
"But, God, can you be a Mother When your baby's not with you?",
"Yes, you can" He replied With confidence in His voice,
"I give many women babies When they leave is not their choice,
Some I send for a lifetime And others for a day,
And some I send to feel your womb But there's no need to stay",
"I just don't understand this, God I want my baby here",
He took a breath and cleared His throat And then I saw a tear,
"I wish that I could show you What your child is doing today,
If you could see your child smile With other children and say,
'We go to Earth to learn our lessons Of love and life and fear,
My Mommy loved me oh so much I got to come straight here.,
I feel so lucky to have a Mom Who had so much love for me,
I learned my lesson very quickly, My Mommy set me free,
I miss my Mommy oh so much But I visit her each day,
When she goes to sleep, On her pillow's where I lay,
I stroke her hair and kiss her cheek And whisper in her ear,
Mommy, don't be sad today I'm your baby and I'm here',
"So you see my dear sweet one Your children are okay,
Your babies are in My home And this is where they'll stay,
They'll wait for you with Me Until our lesson is through,
And on the day that you come home They'll be at the gates for you,
So now you see what makes a Mother It's the feeling in your heart,
It's the love you had so much of Right from the very start,
Though some on Earth may not realize you are a Mother,
Until their time is done ,
They'll be up here with Me one day,
And know you're the best one!" | | | I love my Daddy I love playing this kissy face game with my Daddy. He use to pucker his lips up and blow and I would copy him. We both had so much fun playing together.
My daddy was always so silly always making silly faces. I will miss my daddy! Although Daddy was the funny one, mommy is one one who changed all those stinky diapers. Poor Mommy I peed on her twice, well I'm a boy, lol! I love when mommy fed me that was our special time together. Glad she feed me that sweet yummy breast milk instead of that formula, lol!Sometimes when she nursed me I'd grin, and mommy loved that. She loved holding me and kissing my checks. She took such good care of me and I know she loved me sooo much.
" A Life so Brief, A child so small.
You had the power to touch us all
" Death leaves a heartache, That no one can heal...
Love leaves a memory, That no one can steal....
Thank you for the gift of you!
You gave us hope by just being you.
After all the hurting and healing is through
We'll treasure most of all the gift of you!
~YOU'RE A SPECIAL LITTLE SPIRT~
"You're a Special Little Spirit," the all great Master said,
As he gently caressed the curly blond hair of the Little Spirit's Head.
"You need to go to Earth to spend some time, you know,
A place I send most Spirits to be tested, to learn, to grow."
The Little Spirit, in sadness, slowly bowed her head,
And from her eye a tear did steal and down her cheek it shed.
"Don't you fret now little one, I won't let you stay too long,
I'll bring you back to help me here,
You'll hardly know you've been gone.
You're my choicest Little Spirit, you're the apple of my eye."
And he wiped the tear and gently kissed His Little Spirit good-bye.
"I'm back," the Little Spirit whispered,
as she climbed onto her Master's knee,
And the Master said, "I told you, you would not be long away from me."
And then, the Lord, He noticed still another tear welled in her eye.
"Why are you so sad, Little Spirit, whatever should make you cry?"
"I'm glad I'm back," the Spirit said, "but Master you must surely know
, When your angel came to get me, I didn't want to go.
I know you said you needed me and that I'd be gone the shortest while,
But Lord, couldn't I have had a little longer earthly trial?"
The Master let the Little Spirit slip down from His knee,
He firmly took the little hand and said,"Come walk with me."
The Little Spirit and her Lord walked slowly hand in hand,
As the Master explained Her special part in the great and marvelous plan.
"Now Lord, I don't mean to argue, I understand you need me home.
But I left in such a hurry, I left everyone hurting and so alone.
I didn't let my earthly parents know how much I loved them so.
I was much too small to tell them, Lord, how will they ever know?
They feel they've been cheated, and in a way so do I.
Not getting to share any more than we did,
how can I ever tell them why?"
"Little Spirit, I know your heart is heavy with the message you need to share.
But you need not worry anymore,
I'll watch over your loved ones there.
I'll send them loving comfort as a strong and helping hand.
I'll content and give peace to their aching hearts,
so they will understand.
The Little Spirit looked up at her Master and said "Thank you for explaining it to me.
And could you please tell them I'm safe and happy,
and that someday they'll be here with me." "
Yes," said the Lord with a smile and a nod,
"I'll tell them all that I can."
Then the others came to see the Little Spirit,
as the Lord let go of her hand.
He said, "I'll tell them you're pure, as pure as Heaven's Gold,
That I needed the warmth of your perfect soul to keep Heaven from getting cold."
