Richard's short life was filled with simple pleasures. He was so genuinely proud of his new independence, it would have been impossible not to be happy for him. He held a steady job, moved into his first apartment, and called everyone he knew to announce the arrival of his first telephone. Richard's life seemed just to have started. Without warning, in the early morning of March 1, 2000, it ended much too soon.
Richard's twenty-one years were spent in the midst of a loving family, and no matter how tall he grew, he never hesitated to show his love. He was well known for two things: he could almost knock you over with a hug, and could always win you over with a smile.
Richard's parents are Richard Peak (and his wife Debbie) and Gloria Peak Smith (and her husband Charles). His sister, Jennifer Stickelmeyer, was always there to watch out for his best interest. Also special to Richard were his half-sister, Qualyn Smith, Stepsister Christie Smith, Stepbrother Chuck Smith, his brother-in-law, Mike Stickelmeyer, and niece and nephew, Taylor and Gavin. Richard was loved by them all.
The glow of love at the heart of his family still burns brightly for Richard. He will always be a part of our sweetest memories.
