Shakeylia was a young, vibrant, beautiful girl who loved to laugh, encourage people and just tell it like it is. She always wanted everyone else to have the same joy and happiness she had. I will always remember her smile and her brutal honesty. If you wanted to know the truth, just ask Keylia.
Keylia was my neice and her mothers baby girl. She looked forward to turning 18 this month, and graduating from Harrison Central High School, in Lyman, MS. this May. Keylia was a joy to everyone who knew her and was taken from us much too soon.
Shakeylia was brutally murdered by a man. She was taken from us and was not given the chance to grow up, go to college and enjoy her life as we do. She was snatched from us when the person took her life and left her in the woods dead. He did things to her that she should not have had to suffer. My consolation is found in the scripture my neice put in the church obituary, I think it came from Psalms 56:3-4. It says that whenever I am afraid I will trust in thee. I find comfort in knowing that when Keylia when thru what she endured prior to her last breath that God was with her and she didn't have to be afraid. Also that she was never alone.
We plan to follow the trial of the person who murdered her. I am grateful to God that he was found and arrested prior to her burial.
The family not only suffers the loss of our loved one, but the memory of the brutality and the terrible torture he did to her. That will not be forgotten, but we pray for healing of our memories and for peace and forgiveness in this situation.
