James Michael Postawko
December 9 1994 - October 21 2007 | | | Buck & Snowball (aka NoBalls) James Michael "Buck" Postawko entered this world on Friday, December 9, 1994. I was already on a leave of absence from work as my due date was fast approaching, and "Buck" was in the breach position. My regular doctor appointment was for approximately 4:00 p.m. that afternoon; however, about lunch time when his father called, I believed I was having minor contractions. Buck was my third child, so I was pretty sure of the pain. After calling in an early appointment to my doctor, I called my mother who "freaked out" that I was driving myself to the doctor's office! LOL (And I wonder where Buck's hard-headedness came from!) My gynecologist did an exam and confirmed I was in early labor, my "bag of waters" was bulging, and Buck was still in the breach position. I was commanded not to move while an operating room was secured and an emergency c-section was scheduled. It looked like I would be meeting my new son in about an hour! | | | After "Running Away" To His Box, Trying Not To Smile I don't remember too much from this point, except being scared! The nurse wheeled me from the doctor's office to the adjoining hospital where I was taken to a labor room, given an epidural and prepped for surgery. My husband, mother and the rest of the family showed up soon after. I remember my mother joking with my husband, who was to go hunting that weekend, that this would be the only "buck" he would get that weekend -- and thus my son's nickname! Surgery was very routine, and before I knew it here was a gorgeous little baby with the most beautiful round head and perfect face I had ever seen. He was amazing! I would often joke with Buck as he got older that as he was born breach, he came into the world telling everyone to "kiss his butt". He seemed to live this theory throughout his life. He was a deep thinking child with great feeling. "My heart" as I would call him. Always in need of reassurance, always by my side. Smiles were reserved for the most special of occasions in those early days. In fact, most of the time. ** MORE TO COME ** | | |
